Sunday Dharma Class Review & Suggestions

Serdang BA has conducted Sunday Dharma Class for a few years. Now, we are at the cross roads. We noticed that there is not much progress and we can't maintain or keep up the spirit for the children as well as the parents.

Some notable signs are...
a) Children are attending classes at school from Monday to Friday and lots of tuition
b) Lack on interest on the dharma subject, maybe too dry...
c) Parents not free, childeren cannot wake up, come late etc ...
d) Activities not excited, mono, dull, etc ...

What we wants...for children
i) Something interest the children
ii) Create awareness and looking forward to come
iii) Something to share and participate
iv) Simple and easy to grasp

For adults (Bodhi class)
v) Something for them to share and contribute
vi) Raise awareness, commitment
vii) Simple to practise, experience and share

For teachers...
viii) Ease of preparations
ix) Gain and improve while contribute and conduct
x) Raise awareness and commitment

Do you have any ideas or suggestions, kindly provide your comments.

Appreciate your comments and thanks alot.

52nd Merdeka

The celebration for this year Merdeka has been down-sized to a very small scale due to the widespread of H1N1, we need to increase our awareness and take precautionary actions to fight this disease.

At the present moment, there are many issues to be addressed by the present government. The present government needs to deliver what has been championed in 1Malaysia "Rakyat didahuhukan, pencapaian diutamakan", not to only focus on slogan. We need to see results and improve in the delivery of public services. We need to see major changes in all areas for the people to buy in. We need more

There are also many issues with the political parties, be it ruling parties or opposition parties. All parties concerns need to exercise highly sensitivity and tolerance and not to incite hatred and promote conflicts among the people of Malaysians. We live in the plural society and practise various cultures and customs. Everyone needs to show and respect each other. Harmony needs to be preserved as we always champion that we have lots of good practices and share a lot of commonality and proud of what we have today.

Let's practise all the good principles taught by our great spiritual leaders from various traditions.

Sounds of the Human World

On 29 Aug, my family attended the final of the Campus Song Contest organised by FKS at Dewan San Choon, Wisma MCA.

There are two groups of finalists, one for secondary school and another one for varsity, each group consist of six finalists. The competition was very stiff and each finalist has shown their best during the performance. From the event, we saw the progress and evolution of Buddhist Songs to cater for the modern world. Event though most of the finalists chose the Mandarin Buddhist Songs, there was one finalists who chose the English Buddhist Song. It is really great.

Recently, with the emergence of many young buddhist groups who uses buddhist lyrics as a means to encourage more young people to develop their spiritual needs. This is really encouraging and should be promoted.

At the same time, the organiser also organised a fund raising event to collect to support the 88 Taiwan Flood Victim. There are performers from both Buddhist and non-Buddhists groups. It was a very successful event. May we pray for the relief and rendered our support to help those needy for speedier recovery.
